George Brookman
is an active
Calgary
community supporter and independent business
man. Since 1984 he has been the principal
shareholder and C.E.O. of
West
Canadian Industries Group which is a
commercial digital print operation with
offices in Calgary, Edmonton and
Ft. McMurray and with a staff of over two
hundred people. The company has also spawned
Commonwealth Legal Inc.; Canada's only
National Litigation Support
servicewhich codes, organizes and scans
documents for large corporate litigations
from its offices in six Canadian cities;
along with Orange Door Communications which
is a brand and advertising division.He is
also a principal in VISTEK - West Ltd., the
Western division of VISTEK Ltd. one of
Canada's largest
independent camera and photographic
retailers with two stores in
Calgary and one in Edmonton.
Prior to entering the "printing phase" of
his life twenty-two years ago, Mr. Brookmanspent
many years in the commercial real estate
development industry during the last real
estate boom in
Calgary
initially with the Investment Division of
Manulife and later as the Vice-President of
ATCO Development.He also serves today as a
Director of Penn West Energy Trust.
In the community, Mr. Brookman is the
President and Chairman of the Board of the
Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. He
isserving as a director of KSPS Television,
the Public Broadcasting station that serves
the Alberta marketplace from Spokane, Washington and he is a past director and the
past President of a number of other
community organizations including the Rotary
Club of Calgary.
George received the
2008 Distinguished Business Leader Award
given jointly by the Calgary Chamber of
Commerce and the University of Calgary
Haskayne School of Business.
