Mary Brown
Mary
is a career educator, retired, after 32
years, from the
Spokane
School District. She holds
certification as a teacher, counselor and
principal. Both her undergraduate and
graduate degrees are from
Gonzaga University.
Her career began as an English teacher at
Lewis and Clark
High School in Spokane. Moving to a role of middle school
counselor enabled her to focus more on the
helping process. After many years as a
counselor, she assumed administrative
responsibilities in the school district
central office as the administrator for the
Student Services Department.
Currently, Mary is the
Director of the Master of Arts in School
Counseling program at Gonzaga University. She teaches courses
directly related to school and advises and
supervises the school counseling students.
In addition, she helps facilitate the
procedures and requirements that support the
completion of the school certification
process. Mary feels fortunate to be able to
contribute to the counseling profession at
the University by drawing on her knowledge,
skills, and experience to prepare graduate
students for a
career in school counseling.
Mary is married to Tom, has two adult
children and two grandchildren.
