Joel served on the Friends of Seven
Board of Directors for many years
andhad been thePresident of the
Friends of Seven Board of Directors for
a two year term.Anyone who came in
contact with Joel KNEW they were in the
presence of someone very special.From
the moment you saw those twinkling eyes
and heard his infectious, wonderful
laugh,you just knew this was a man who
loved his "place!"
A graduate of Harvard College( Class
of 1941) with a BA in Economics.After a
stint with the Army Air Corps in North
Africa during WWII, Joel came back to
the place and people he loved so
much.He and his wife Mary Jean founded
Joel, a retail store.He was a
board member of EWSHS off and on since
the 1950's,serving as the Board Chair
1991-1994.In addition, he was a
President of the Spokane Garden Club,a
frequent Meals on Wheels volunteer, a
Lector at St. John's Cathedral and a Lay
Minister,A former Chair of the
Salvation Army Board, the Spokane Music
Festival Board and the Greater Spokane
Promotional Alliance and Retail Trade
Bureau.
