J. Ronald Sims
Ron was a founding principal in
ALSC
architects, a
Spokane
based architectural firm serving clients
throughout the Spokane area, the NW, Alaska and Hawaii. After practicing 40 years, he retired
in 2000 to pursue other interests which
stimulate his life. Highlights of his
architectural career include the projects
that have had a significant impact on
Spokane-EXPO 74, which evolved into
Spokane’s
Riverfront
Park and the new Veterans
Memorial Arena.
Ron was born in Coeur d’Alene
ID, raised in Spokane and attended Washington State College
receiving a Bachelor of Architectural
Engineering degree in 1959. He then
returned to Spokane to pursue his
career as an architect.
Throughout his professional career, he
has been committed to giving back to his
community through his time, talent and
energy by serving on public, private and
community boards. He is a past member of the
Spokane Chamber of Commerce Board of
Directors, Spokane Chapter of the American
Institute of Architects past president,
Campfire, Spokane Park Board Past President,
Spokane Parks Foundation, American Red Cross
and a past president of the Friends of Seven
Board of Directors, which he has served on
since 1997. He currently is chair of the
Joint Committee of that board representing
the Friends of Seven Board of Directors and
the holder of our license, Spokane Public
Schools.
