Patty Starkey
Executive Director, Friends of Seven,
Director of Development
Patty Starkey earned her
education degrees at Louisiana State
University. She then went on to teach in
Louisiana, Texas and Idaho, in fact, was
named Teacher of the Year while teaching at
Spring Branch Independent School District, a
suburb of Houston.
Patty has been active in
numerous community boards from the Spokane
Symphony Board to the American Red Cross
Board. She represented the Spokane Symphony
at the American Symphony Orchestra League
national convention on behalf of the Spokane
Symphony.
In the late 70’s, Patty joined the team
working for support of KSPS Public
Television. In the ensuing years, she has
served two three year elected terms to the
PBS Development Advisory Committee (people
from all over the system giving counsel to
PBS nationally regarding fund raising), The
National Ethics in Fundraising Committee,
and was elected the PBS Development
Profession of the Year in 1995, the highest
honor the development community bestows.
Patty is one of four development
professionals from all over the system who
is deemed a Master Teacher for Pledge
Academy, an honor she enjoys today.
