During the Reporting Period, NO full time positions were filled. The information required by FCC Rule 73.2080(c) (6) is provided in the chart that follows.


The employment unit engaged in the following broad outreach initiatives in accordance with various elements of FCC Rule 73.2080(c) (2):

Participated in events sponsored by organizations representing groups present in the community interested in broadcast employment issues, including conventions, career days, workshops, and similar activities.

April 4, 2013 – General Manager participated in Annual Career Fair at Spokane Community College.  Spoke with attendees about broadcasting careers.

August 16, 2013 – General Manager participated in Annual Unity Day in Riverfront Park.  Spoke with young people about career opportunities in broadcasting.

Established an internship program designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment.

Fall Quarter 2012 – one student from Spokane Community College interned in the Engineering Dept. Averaged 20 hours per week and received college credit.

Winter Quarter 2013 – a student from Spokane Community College interned in our Engineering Department. He worked 30 hours per week and received college credit.

Fall Semester 2012 – a Gonzaga student started an internship in our Production Department.

Winter Semester 2013 – Gonzaga student interned in our production Department.

Established training programs designed to enable station personnel to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher level positions.

Aug. 16, 2012 – Admin. Asst. attended Spokane Schools training on upgrades to purchasing and accounting system.  This training counts towards continuing educ. credits for increases annual pay.

Provided training to management level personnel on methods of ensuring equal employment opportunity and prevent discrimination.

All management staff attend EEO training sessions as provided by licensee, Spokane Public Schools.

Participated in other activities designed by the station employment unit reasonably calculated to further the goal of disseminating information as to employment opportunities in broadcasting to job candidates who might otherwise be unaware of such opportunities.

General Manager is an Adjunct Instructor at Gonzaga University and serves on the Advisory Board of the Gonzaga University Communications Dept.  This course covers broadcast employment whereby the specifics of KSPS employment issues are discussed as a class project.

Production Manager is on the Advisory Board of the Spokane Skills Center Broadcast Training Department

General Manager is on the Board of Community Minded Television, a local cable community origination channel.
