Mary Joan Hahn

A Canadian who hails from Southwestern Ontario, Mary Joan moved to Spokane in 1980 with her husband Roger, an Eastern Washington native. They have two grown children raised with Sesame Street, Wishbone, Reading Rainbow and other the great PBS children’s programs.
As vice president in the Northwest office of the global communications firm Hill and Knowlton, Mary Joan works locally, nationally and internationally with companies and organizations in public relations and public affairs. Previously, she managed communications for the Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute and the River point Higher Education Park.

Mary Joan graduated from the University Guelph, Ontario, Canada in 1976 with a baccalaureate degree in English Language and Literature. She is accredited in PR by the Public Relations Society of America, and is a 1990 graduate of Leadership Spokane.

Currently, she serves as a trustee with the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture and with Spokane Kiwanis Charities. Mary Joan is a former president of Women Helping Women Fund, a grassroots organization that raises funds for local women and children’s programs. She has volunteered with a number of community, professional and civic organizations over the years.
