From General Manager Claude Kistler

As KSPS continues to address additional and needed capital equipment purchases necessary to complete our transition to digital technology and high definition broadcasting, there is yet again new and emerging technology (mobile and 3D video) that continues to change the way our industry will provide program and services in the future.

As much of our current generation of viewers grew to embrace so called significant technology changes such as the remote control, VCRs, multiple digital channels and now high definition television, the next generation of video users has grown up with computer key boards, hand-held gaming devices, interactive and on-demand access to information and entertainment since near infancy. Their pattern of video and content use is far different from ours and subsequently presents significant challenges when it comes to serving this generation of media users with appropriate content and viewing experiences. The overriding question that we as broadcasters face is what will be the appropriate business model in order to produce, deliver and fund content for this next generation of video and media users. With our mission of improving the quality of life in the communities we serve, what an exciting and challenging future lays ahead for us as providers of content and services.

With best regards,

Claude Kistler
