Viewer feedback related to Masterpiece Classic’s “Downton Abbey” has been favorable. The first season of Downton Abbey concluded on Sunday, January 30th.
There is some confusion regarding the first season. The series was presented on ITV in the UK as seven episodes. The series was presented on Masterpiece as four ninety-minute episodes. This packaging altered the starting and end points of the original episodes with limited editing of content. The North American packaging also eliminated the commercial break breaks.
Downton Abbey will return to MASTERPIECE Classic with new episodes in 2012. Julian Fellowes will continue as the writer for the upcoming series, and cast members have already committed to the second season, among them Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, and Elizabeth McGovern.
Additional information on Downton Abbey is available on the MASTERPIECE website —http://www.pbs.org/masterpiece — where you can also find the latest news, behind-the-scenes extras, and a new locations feature.

Upstairs, Downstairs returns to Masterpiece in April with a three-part series beginning April 10th. There's been a bit of a stir in the UK between critics and fans of Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs. After watching the series, I'd be interested in your feedback about both of these series.
I hope this information helps. I know a year is a long time.
