Did you catch the Capitol 4th on KSPS TV? Great program! I watched between barbecues and going downtown to see the fireworks display. Both were great of course. Spokane couldn’t compete with what was called the greatest display of fireworks anywhere in the nation!
Equally sublime were the entertainers who provided incredible music for the event. My favorites were comedian Steve Martin who played with the Steep Canyon Rangers and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks.
Another of my favorite singers, Harry Conick Jr., will be appearing this Saturday on KSPS’ Great Performances at 8 p.m. Connick will perform in his trademark jazzy New Orleans style at New York’s Neil Simon Theatre. With a 20-piece swing band and a 10-piece string section, Connick will play both a Steinway grand and up-right honky-tonk piano. He’ll be singing “Hey, There” from his recent hit revival of The Pajama Game, as well as “Take Her to the Mardi Gras” from his 2001 Broadway musical Thou Shalt Not. There's many too many songs to list here but check out the KSPS website for more info.
Be still my beating heart!
