I’m so proud of myself this week! I worked super hard over the weekend getting our yard back into shape after the too-wet spring. It was a major spring cleanup and since our house is on a corner, there are both the front and back yards as well as two sloping hills on either side.
It's an annual event that typically leaves me unable to remain upright in the standing position for very long, with both hands locked into garden tool mode. Although every year I swear I'm not going to overdo it; I never seem to remember to stop before it's too late.
This time I promised myself I would at least look into finding some answers to help resolve the resultant back pain. There happens to be a program which aired over the weekend on stopping back pain with Vijay Vad, Md. Since I missed it I'm going to check it out when it replays on Friday, June 10 at 1:30 p.m.
Dr. Vijay Vad, is a back pain specialist at the Hospital for Special Surgery, in New York, who will be talking about common causes for chronic back pain: disc injuries and spinal stenosis (which I happen to have).
According to the programming blurb, Dr. Vad will explain the causes of back pain, the mechanisms of the two back ailments (above) and will outline a course of pain self-management and recovery that includes an understanding of the mind/body relationship, exercise, diet and supplements.
So if your back is giving you bouts of pain, or if you suffer chronic back pain; tune in on Friday, June 10 at 1:30 p.m. on KSPS. I'll be watching with you!
