You know what they say – perception is everything. You may have the perception that public broadcasting stations are running along just fine with no help from you. The truth is that KSPS Public TV, just like any other public TV stations, need and depend on viewer members just like you and me to help support the tremendous programming that they bring to us every day of the year.
KSPS has been working diligently this summer to make the budget goal by the end of the fiscal year on Aug. 31, 2011. Thanks to the stellar support from members, they’re down to about $40,000 left to raise, which speaks highly of the members who have already pledged to support KSPS. They say that the last amount is just as important.
The Federal government funds about 20% of the station’s overall budget and it is in jeopardy. Corporation funding has diminished during the recession and programming costs continue to rise.
So they are asking viewers, members … everyone to help them reach their goal of $40,000 by next Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011. So ... if you can renew or contribute an extra gift, please do so by the deadline.
I always think how much I would miss the types of programming I see on KSPS, that I don’t see anywhere else, when it’s time to contribute my share. So give what you can afford to give.
