If you’re not going to see Michael Buble on Wednesday evening, check out the 8 p.m. performance of the “Jackie Evancho: Dream with Me in Concert” on KSPS Public TV.
Jackie Evancho, if you’ve been cloistered under the proverbial rock, is the tiny little blonde discovered on the 5th season of America’s Got Talent.
Evancho was only 10 years old when she performed on the talent competition and finished in second place. Today, at 11 years old, she’s already won the title of best-selling debut artist of 2010 with her “O Holy Night” EP. The song was her first release on a major record label, and came out on Nov. 16, 2010. It came in at no. 3 for 2010 on Amazon.
It is truly amazing to hear the incredible voice she has and watch her sing, as poised as many established entertainers. It’s almost surreal. I saw the original, live America’s Got Talent show and remember feeling goosebumps on my arm while I watched her sing “O mio babbino caro” by Giacomo Puccini. I joined the audience in giving her a standing ovation at the end of the performance.
Since then Evancho’s life was changed forever. In 2010, she performed in 10 of 25 cities for the America’s Got Talent road show, made appearances on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Oprah Winfrey Show and the Today Show on NBC just to mention a few.
It is going to be a privilege to watch her career as she and her voice both mature into adulthood.
I’ll be taping the Jackie Evancho show on Wednesday evening while I’m attending the Michael Buble show in Spokane. That's a win-win evening in my book.
