Two great programs this week!

If you’re a music connoisseur you’ll be excited to see this week there are several musical programs to choose from on KSPS.

First on Friday evening at 8 p.m. there’s the American Masters Series premiere “Pearl Jam Twenty” – a documentary that is derived from 1,200 hours of rarely and never-before-seen footage of the band that coincides with Pearl Jam’s yearlong celebration of its 20th anniversary. The film has been called a “definitive portrait of Pearl Jam” told by award-winning director and music journalist Cameron Crowe.

According to information on the American Master's website, Pearl Jam Twenty features new interviews with original band members Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and Eddie Vedder, drummer Matt Cameron, and friend and Soundgarden singer/guitarist Chris Cornell as well as archival performance and interview footage of Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog, Kurt Cobain and Neil Young.

I can’t wait to see the program.

On Saturday evening, Oct. 22, I also can’t wait to see The Decemberists and Gillian Welch on Austin City Limits at 11 p.m. They’ll be playing songs from the King is Dead and more. Welch and her partner David Rawlings will perform cuts from The Harrow & The Harvest.

I’m expecting both programs to be excellent viewing.
