Which animal do you favor?

Are you a dog or a cat person? 

People usually have a strong preference for one or the other. I’m basically a dog person. 

I don’t even really like cats but my daughter had a cat when she was seven or eight that stayed with me long after my daughter left home to strike out on her own. And I did love that cat!

Right now, I have a Cardigan Welsh Corgi who is about 4 years old and is my best friend. I know it’s weird to say that but it’s how I feel. He’s a big, sappy, always loving, always funny little guy who is constantly by my side and loves me no matter what.

The relationships that we have with our pets is complex and fascinating. Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. “Why We Love Cats and Dogs?” will air again on KSPS. It’s a program that will help you understand exactly what draws us to cats or dogs. Animal behaviorists, psychologists, trainers and owners all have an opinion and share it on this show. It’s billed as “funny, touching and provocative” so I’m excited to watch it.

We have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and she is the world's Sweetest animal - Seriously!! Watchdog she is not - she would "love up" on anyone who entered the house - but we didn't get her for her security abilities. There is no creature alive that is more loving than our little Cavalier. If we are down, all we have to do is pick her up and give her some "luvs" and our spirits immediately improve. Truly Man's Best Friend!

We've always had cats because our lives are very busy and they're easier to deal with when you're not always home. We love our cat, but we love our son's dog, Abby, too. She's a lover and a boisterous bundle of energy. (Part border collie.)
