If you think eating healthy is hard work, then we have something easy for you. Drinking the right amount of water is as easy as taking a water bottle with you everywhere you go. Water keeps your body hydrated, which is super important! It helps you think!
Drinking lots of water is another way you can fuel your mind! On average, your body is going to need at least two quarts of water every day. That's about the same as the ice cream carton in your freezer! Without water, you could probably live for 3 to 5 days... But I wouldn't test it out!
Now, if you don't drink any water at all, but you drink other things like soda and coffee your brain and body won't like you very much. You will get really dehydrated, and eventually you will become super sluggish and you won't be able to think at all! That's why it's really important to drink at least 6 glasses of water every day! It fuels your mind and keeps you from getting dehydrated and sluggish.
Sleep isn't food or water, but it does fuel the mind!
Sleep is very important for your brain. Not only does it get rid of that sleepy feeling and make you feel more energized for the day, but it also helps with memory and doing better in school! Your mind is surprisingly busy while you snooze. During sleep you can strengthen memories or "practice" skills learned while you were awake. Crazy huh?! So here's a tip, when you have a test in your math, English or history class, make sure you get tons of sleep the night before! As long as you did a good job of studying before you go to sleep, your mind will work on it the whole night even without you telling it to! Then, the next day you will probably ace that test!
So, help keep your mind strong. Eat healthy food, drink lots of water and get your eight hours of sleep in every night.
