Railway Adventures Across Canada "Frontiers on the West"

On board the Rocky Mountaineer, Whistler Northwind, Skeena and Malahat Dayliner venture deep into the wilds of Canada. Highlights: Canadian Rockies - Vancouver - Kluane National Park - Pacific Rim National Park - Fort Edmonton - Elk Island - Victoria

American Masters "Garrison Keillor: The Man on the Radio in the Red Shoes"

tonight @ 8pm/9mtn

Lake Wobegon - where the women are strong, the men are good looking and all the children are above average - has become America's collective hometown, visited weekly for the past 40 years on a fictional radio program that creates bona fide nostalgia. With his “Prairie Home Companion,” Keillor became our national philosopher, filling the empty shoes of Will Rogers and Mark Twain, through his running commentary about the human condition and the social politic. With biting wit, a quirky perspective and an uncanny ability to home in on the pulse of America, Keillor's themes and characters are somehow familiar to us all.

PBS Previews: The National Parks"

tonight @ 9:30pm/10:30mtn

PBS presents a preview of the new Ken Burns film The National Parks: America's Best Idea. The 12-hour, six-part documentary series, directed by Burns and co-produced with his longtime colleague, Dayton Duncan, is the story of an idea as uniquely American as the Declaration of Independence and just as radical: that the most special places in the nation should be preserved, not for royalty or the rich, but for everyone.

400 Years of the Telescope

Thurs @ 7pm/8mtn

This program takes viewers on a
sweeping journey from 1609, when Galileo revealed mankind's place in the galaxy, to today's quests to discover new worlds in the infinite universe. Narrated by NOVA's Neil deGrasse Tyson, the program goes on an adventure through the heavens and around the globe, visiting the world's leading astronomers, cosmologists and observatories, providing viewers with a survey of possible astronomical discoveries waiting for mankind.

Finding Health Care in Hard Times' A Special Town Hall Meeting

watch online  take our survey

This special ‘town hall’ Community Forum focuses on ways to access health care in these trying economic times. Layoffs are leaving many families uninsured and vulnerable to bankrupting medical emergencies. Even those with jobs are often unable to afford medical insurance.

What help is available from government, business and health care providers? We examine the problem and provide a phone bank — staffed during and immediately after the telecast — to give viewers the chance to speak to expert counselors for personal assistance with finding health care.
