Military veterans returning from Iraq and
Afghanistan have put their lives and their
health on the line for their country. But what
has our country offered in return, to help our
soldiers readjust to civilian life? Many
returning veterans struggle to cope with
life-altering injuries. Others suffer from
post-traumatic stress disorder. Once known as
shell shock or combat fatigue, PTSD affects one
in eight returning veterans, and can have
long-term negative affects, when left
untreated.
