FAQ about Membership and Fund Raising

Do you trade member names with other companies?

NO. Your information is safe with us! As a member, you should know that all your information is confidential. We do not loan, rent, trade or sell our membership list to other organizations for their fundraising or sales purposes. We do have vendors with whom we contract to help us with our fundraising and we may give them your name to contact on behalf of Friends of KSPS. These companies are carefully screened and reputable. They are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement to keep your information confidential at all times and to use it only to contact you during a specific campaign under our supervision.

How can I receive Prevue, the program guide?

For as little as $48 per year, Prevue is just one of the benefits you will enjoy when you become a member of the Friends of KSPS.

When is your office open?

The Membership office is open Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm Pacific Time, with a few exceptions. Feel free to call us toll-free at 1-800-735-2377. Or email us at ksps@ksps.org.

May I contribute in Canadian funds?

Yes, if you are a Canadian. Canadian funds are welcome!

Is my contribution tax deductible?

Friends of KSPS, Inc. DBA Friends of Seven is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in the State of Washington and your contribution is US-tax deductible according to law. If you receive a thank-you gift, the Fair Market Value of that gift will be subtracted from the deductible amount as required by law. Friends of KSPS is not recognized as a tax-exempt charity in Canada.

Don't you get money when I pay my cable bill?

None of your monthly cable fee goes to KSPS.

Why do you have so many on-air drives?

Only 1 in 10 viewers financially supports the station. On-air drives are the most efficient way to reach viewers who appreciate quality programming.

How much government funding do your receive?

Our federal matching grant is under 20 percent of our annual operating budget. We receive nothing from the State of Washington and we receive no Provincial support. The remainder of the funding comes from the Friends of KSPS.

May I contribute a little each month?

Yes. You may have your credit card charged monthly or have funds deducted from your checking account. If you'd like to contribute on an ongoing basis, consider becoming a KSPS Sustainer. You may also decide between a lump sum, monthly, or other installments - whatever is most convenient for you.

How many people belong to Friends of KSPS?

About 30,000 people throughout the northwestern US and Canada.
