Tens of millions of Americans suffer from chronic pain. It can be mild or excruciating, intermittent or continuous, merely inconvenient or totally incapacitating. And just as chronic pain can vary so can the ways to treat it.
We focus on coping and caring for chronic pain - from common cures to new treatments. Plus, we’ll explore the dangerous and growing trend of people becoming addicted to pain killers.
Accomplished athletes Mark Rypien and Sidney Crosby have made headlines recently for suffering the long-term effects of sports-related concussions. We teach our kids to wear bike helmets and fasten our seatbelts in the car, but those safety measures aren’t always enough. Brain injury from head trauma can result with lifelong consequences. We explore the road to recovery from a brain injury and how it affects not just the patient but entire families. Can more be done to protect those we love?
Our Mission
This series focuses on health topics of great importance to our viewers and specific populations in our service region. Once a month KSPS-TV produces a live call-in program addressing a specific illness and/or health concern, featuring local panelists (i.e. physicians and caregivers) who will share their experiences and expertise.
