SNC Host Mikayla Daniels
Mikayla Daniels was born and raised in Alaska. After moving to Spokane in 2003, she attending college first at S.C.C. and then at Eastern Washington University, where she graduated in June 2015 with her B.A. in film. There she attained "Outstanding Senior" status, with accolades for Excellence in Screenwriting and Excellence in Documentary Production, as well as receiving several scholarships and interviews.
While working through college — and raising her four kids —she earned an Emmy for her work on the KHQ Morning Show team as Editor for The Carlton Complex Fire coverage. Now with her B.A and an Emmy under her belt, Mikayla attends the low- residency M.F.A. in screenwriting program through Stephens College. Her sessions are based in Los Angeles at the start of every semester; and she has been able to talk to such writers/ producers as; Glen Mazaara, Linda Woolverton and Alexa Junge, to name a few. She is poised to graduate in 2017 as part of the first class in Stephens’ new screenwriting program.
When not working, doing homework or playing with her kids, Mikayla also volunteers with the Spokane Film Project. She has worked on a few shorts with the Project, in addition to working on her own short productions. Claims of her never sleeping are highly exaggerated, as she does manage to squeeze a solid four hours in every night.
