I am receiving another audio channel on
certain programs. A woman in the background is speaking about the
program while the action is going on. Is there something wrong?
You are hearing "Descriptive Video." On certain programs, a
special service is provided to the visually impaired. Between
dialogues, another voice is added on the SAP audio channel
describing the action on the TV screen. This is similar to a book on
audiotape. If you do not wish to hear this extra audio channel,
simply push the SAP button on your remote control to switch the TV
set back to STEREO.
Can I watch KSPS-TV off my satellite system
at home?
If you live in Canada, KSPS-TV is available on Star Choice. If
you live in the U.S., KSPS-TV is available on Dish Network. The
existing satellite services have initially targeted the top 37
markets across the country. KSPS-TV hopes to be included in the
second set of market carriages on domestic satellites soon.
Can I view KSPS-TV on the Internet?
The process of viewing television stations on the Internet is
called "streaming." Although technology is moving ahead at a fast
pace, the technology for video streaming is not far enough developed
to be viable except for high-speed Internet connections. Developing
technologies may make video streaming for KSPS-TV attractive in the
next few years. Meanwhile, KSPS-TV is continuing to improve our
website to be an important source of information to our viewers.
I watch KSPS-TV on an antenna on a UHF
channel and lately the picture looks bad. What should I do?
You are watching KSPS-TV off a UHF television translator. In the
Spokane market, over 260 translators extend local signals into areas
that cannot receive a good direct picture from the television
broadcast tower. These local translators are generally owned and
operated by a local translator organization supported by the local
community. Equipment can fail and require service. If you cannot
make contact with your local translator organization, contact
KSPS-TV and we will make the local contact for you and assist in
getting your programming back.
